The Sad And Bad Effects Of Drug Abuse As Well As Alcohol Abuse
The effects of drug abuse, as well as alcohol abuse, can be seen and felt through the changes in a certain addict’s physical, emotional, mental, and psychological traits or characteristics. Commonly, the involved alcohol or drug addict has transformed from being pretty or handsome, sexy or fit, smart, intelligent, wise, and fashionable to being shabby, unattractive, unhealthily thin and pale, dull, and unmindful of his or her appearance and of the surroundings. With these negative effects or results, why do many individuals abuse alcohol and drugs? And why does the number of related addictions increase?
When asked for reasons, the usual answers of addicted persons focus on their respective personal aspects, family backgrounds, friends, and ego trips. They do know that drugs and excessive alcohol are bad, but each of them still proceed in taking either, or both, because of any, or a combination, of the aforementioned reasons. Typically, if a person with very low self-esteem has a family that seems to push him or her down all the more, the only way out at the moment may be alcohol or drugs. Speaking of family, it is really sad that many addicts have formed the bad habit because they could not get love and affection from their individual families. Of course, not all of those who belong to dysfunctional families resort to substances; usually just those who have the least coping skills, who have bad friends, and who have nowhere else to go.
As a whole, the effects of alcohol and drug abuse can also be passed on to the addicts’ families, as well as on the society. Having an addict in the family is definitely not a good thing especially if the involved addict becomes violent, suicidal, and intolerable. Concurrently, the society is also affected because these addicts can become criminals and they can entice the younger generation to also take drugs or alcohol, which are unfortunately already happening these days. All in all, each concerned family can help. In fact, it has a big role in minimizing, or even stopping the drug abuse effects. Every family’s members should be observant; any member who seems to be taking drugs or alcohol must be helped by first talking to him or her. And whether or not there is a confession about the addiction, the services of a suitable treatment or rehab center should be availed. This way, the effects of drug abuse and alcohol abuse will not spread to the society in general. And, most importantly, the involved addict is saved.
